OMNI-X black chrome AND OMNI-X lube

As a reaction to the increasing  price of  copper, which is the basic element of  any aluminium bronze materials suitable for use in consumable tube bending tools like mandrels and wiper dies, everyone in industry is now trying to find another material solution. Many trials and tests have been already done. Most of inventions were more or less based on carbide, ceramic or different kinds of TiC/TiN coatings, indeed most of them perform excellently but the main problem i.e. - high price of tools persists. One of the easiest ways to cut spending on these tools is simply to use a proper material combination. Alubronze tools only should be used to bend stainless steel, titanium or other exotic material with a high content of nickel and chromium. All other materials like carbon steel, aluminum, aluminized steel, copper and their alloys should be done on steel or TSC (hardchrome plated) mandrels and wiper dies. A very important issue is to use the correct lubricant which makes such combinations possible. 

With respect to this the OMNI-X have always tried to find better solutions. 

After a few months of tests and investigations OMNI-X CZ, would like to announce its two new products which may lead our customers to big savings on consumable tools for rotary draw tube bending, primarily on mandrels but on wiper dies as well.
The first invention is a mandrel made of hardened tool steel with “OMNI-X BLACK CHROME” surface treatment.  Both internal and customer tests have proved repeatedly it has a life cycle twice as long as STEEL or TSC (steel hard chrome plated) mandrels, while price of these new mandrels is only slightly higher.  These mandrels are mostly used to bend tubes of mild steel, aluminized steel, copper and their alloys.

The second invention has been created in cooperation with one of the leading companies in the chemical industry. Thanks to this cooperation we can now offer a new lubricant the “OMNI-X LUBE” which performs excellently on any tube bending application.  This means the “OMNI-X LUBE” can be applied to any mandrel  or wiper die produced in order to extend its working life.
The advantage of combining these two products is significant – as during our tests we discovered the “OMNI-X BLACK CHROME” mandrels lubricated with the “OMNI-X LUBE” last not just twice but often more than three times longer than TSC mandrels lubricated with a general lubricant!
